Title: is paying for a professional resume service in Canada actually worth it?
Post by: albanemartin on May 25, 2026, 06:20 AM
So I want to start by saying I was 100% skeptical about this.
Three months ago I was that person waking up every morning, making my coffee, opening LinkedIn, and just... applying. And applying. And applying. Mid-level marketing roles in Toronto, $70K–$85K range. I tailored every single cover letter. I checked every job board before bed like it was my second job.
Zero callbacks. Not even rejections. Just silence.
My coworker suggested I look into professional resume writing services (https://www.topresume.ca/). I almost laughed. I have a degree, I can write — why would I pay someone to do something I can do myself?
But after week 10 of nothing, I caved. I found Top Resume Canada and decided to give it a shot.
Here's what actually surprised me. It wasn't that they "made my resume pretty." It was that my writer asked me questions I had never thought to answer on paper — the actual business impact of my work, the numbers behind projects I had just described vaguely, how to frame a gap year I had been nervously hiding.
